Job Description

We are seeking a Material Planning Supervisor to join a client in Grapevine. This is a full-time, direct hire position. The role is 100% onsite.

This position is responsible for leading strategic material planning activities that ensure operational continuity and on-time production support. This role oversees aftermarket demand planning, supply planning, inventory allocation, and materials management processes to support end-unit and spare parts requirements.

Working cross-functionally with Operations, Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Repair Operations, and external suppliers, this position develops and executes material strategies that align supply with customer demand while minimizing disruptions. The role also provides leadership to the planning team and is responsible for departmental performance, staffing, and budget management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demand Planning, Materials Management & Supply Chain Execution (90%)

  • Develop and execute aftermarket material planning strategies supporting end-unit sales and spare parts demand.
  • Lead demand and supply planning activities to ensure material availability and uninterrupted production operations.
  • Monitor production returns, quality-related issues, and material availability risks, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate shipment releases and inventory deployment to support customer and aftermarket requirements.
  • Partner with Sourcing and Supply Chain organizations to ensure material strategies align with business objectives and capacity plans.
  • Identify material shortages, supply constraints, and inventory risks, developing mitigation strategies to maintain production continuity.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to implement product transitions, change management activities, and new program introductions within planning systems.
  • Manage material allocation across business priorities, including repair and aftermarket operations.
  • Analyze planning, inventory, and operational performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present operational reviews, forecasts, and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Engage with customers and cross-functional partners to understand demand requirements and optimize workflow planning.
  • Generate analytical reports and business insights to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support quality, testing, documentation, and process improvement efforts related to supply chain and materials management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization (5%)

  • Lead initiatives focused on warehouse efficiency, inventory optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Analyze product flow, inventory performance, and delivery challenges to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Support efficient merchandise movement and inventory management practices across warehouse and operational functions.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.

Leadership & Team Development (5%)

  • Build and maintain a collaborative, high-performance work environment supported by open communication and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and employee engagement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal customers, suppliers, and business partners.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and train employees.
  • Direct daily work activities and resource allocation for assigned team members.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development.
  • Address employee relations matters, performance concerns, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Manage departmental staffing plans, workforce utilization, and budgetary responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations, supply chain management, demand planning, SIOP/S&OP, sourcing, or materials management; OR
  • Master's degree (MBA or related discipline) with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct people leadership or management experience.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into actionable business decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in demand planning, supply planning, inventory management, and materials management processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success delivering measurable improvements in supply chain, delivery performance, and inventory management.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, forecasting, and planning systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in complex operational environments.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success working in cross-functional, team-oriented environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or related supply chain certification.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, repair operations, or aftermarket support environments.
  • Experience leading SIOP/S&OP processes and inventory optimization initiatives.
